What is a Postal Match?

Before the internet, if friendly target shooters wanted to compete against one another they could either meet together and exchange targets, or they would participate in a Postal Match. Typically these contests were a standard course of fire that the participants shot, then mailed to the contest organizer for tally. Since the internet can provide us with nearly instant feedback, and we can trade many different targets, it seems to be an ideal format for the "Modern Postal Match".

January 2011 Match Results - Mozambique

Well January has come and gone...quickly. As you can see below, we got a ton of entries this month. Merle...I want to get a look into your gunsafe, cowboy! Actually, I've asked Merle to forward some photos of some of the more ecclectic of his collection.

Great shooting by all. The bad guys don't stand a chance against you guys. Because we had so many entries, and some people were able to use timers and some were not, I decided not to tally the scores. Take a look  for yourselves. You should be proud.

Next month's match will be extra special. As you may recall, the Nashville Online Handgun Postal Match is the "official" postal match of The Gun Nation Podcast. Doc Wesson's February podcast will be all about revolvers. Therefore, he and I have decided to dedicate the February match to the art of the wheelgun. No autos, only revolvers!!!! We're calling it "The Wheel of Love". Look for it soon. (Also, from now on, let's include in our target submissions, a photo of the gun used. We all like to drool over other folks' hardware!)

Invite your friends to play along.
Take someone shooting.

  1. Why thank you.

Actually I don't have a safe - couldn't find one big enough. I decided it would be easier to just armor plate the spare bedroom:)
