What is a Postal Match?

Before the internet, if friendly target shooters wanted to compete against one another they could either meet together and exchange targets, or they would participate in a Postal Match. Typically these contests were a standard course of fire that the participants shot, then mailed to the contest organizer for tally. Since the internet can provide us with nearly instant feedback, and we can trade many different targets, it seems to be an ideal format for the "Modern Postal Match".

November 2010 Results - Tribute to Project Appleseed

Happy Thanksgiving to all. We had a lot of entries this month...mostly by Merle who entered every class! Very prolific indeed. Good to see some new faces (???) joining in. I know the holidays and changes in the weather have likely also gotten in the way.

While MrBorland had the highest score, I think honorable metion needs to go to Merle for his sheer fortitude at the range. I'm working on December's match. At Merle's request, we will go for something that is friendlier to the aging eye...perhaps even a simple bullseye. Anything to get you out shooting those new Christmas toys!

As always, I look forward to your participation. Any suggestions/comments/criticisms are welcome. Invite your friends to join in as well.

Stay safe. Happy holidays to you all. Take a friend shooting.

  1. Merle, are you shooting a 32-20 Ruger Buckeye?

    Inspiring shooting everyone!

  2. Yes I am. Much to my surprise it has turned into one of my best shooters, especially with 32-20 rounds. The 32 H&R mag does almost as well, but requires quite a sight adjustment. Ease of reloading is it's main virtue.
