What is a Postal Match?


Before the internet, if friendly target shooters wanted to compete against one another they could either meet together and exchange targets, or they would participate in a Postal Match. Typically these contests were a standard course of fire that the participants shot, then mailed to the contest organizer for tally. Since the internet can provide us with nearly instant feedback, and we can trade many different targets, it seems to be an ideal format for the "Modern Postal Match".

Here are the 2010 winners for each class thus far:


Clearly Rimfire is a popular class...cost maybe? Fun...definitely! The Ruger Single Six is by far the favorite this month. I've never heard of a Ruger Speed Six - a revolver in 9mm. Very cool Merle. Also, lots of new players - welcome aboard Mo, Paula, Billl, Merle, Fat White Man and True Blue Sam. Welcome back Manfred all the way from France.     FYI:

    The Ruger Speed Six, Security Six & Service Six series were the first Ruger DA revolvers & were the ancestors of the current GP-100's. The 9mm's used half or full moon clips, similar to some S&W revolvers. Somehow they are becoming something of a cult, which surprises me.
