What is a Postal Match?

Before the internet, if friendly target shooters wanted to compete against one another they could either meet together and exchange targets, or they would participate in a Postal Match. Typically these contests were a standard course of fire that the participants shot, then mailed to the contest organizer for tally. Since the internet can provide us with nearly instant feedback, and we can trade many different targets, it seems to be an ideal format for the "Modern Postal Match".

Welcome to our first international member

Our little match has gone global - well sort of. I got an email the other day from Manfred who is a shooter in France. He has his own blog at http://viedepassion.blogspot.com/. Manfred and his friends have participated in some postal matches hosted elsewhere. I hope that he and his friends will be able to participate in 2010 with our Online Postal Match contests.

By the way, I've added a link to allow translation of this site into any language. Look to the left column

In addition, I've added some links to some other postal matches I have found on the internet. Some may be more active than others...Mr. Completely hosts probably the most long-lived one. The Tennessee Gun Owners forum site www.tngunowners.com/forums/handguns/ also hosts a monthly handgun postal match. I've participated in both. Check them out.

Enjoy the New Year. We will get started back up in January. The cold weather may entice you to check out one of our local indoor ranges if you usually shoot in the great out of doors.
